It had been a few weeks since the Aberdeen Wanderers Warriors had their last game, so the boys were keen to put into practice all they have been working on at training. The game against Dyce RFC was an opportunity for them to demonstrate all they had learnt and all of the skills they have developed over the past few weeks.

Shane Garry was the first to put points on the board, with a try in the ninth minute gaining five points for the Warriors. Garry scored yet again in the eighteenth minute, both of these tries were converted by fly half Ross Dugan, sponsored by Bernard Mullins, giving Wanderers an early 14-0 lead. The Warriors were quick to gain some more points with a try from Arron Ruck, and Ross Dugan picked up the extra points yet again. The 36th minute saw another try from the Warriors, this time by Simon Zubairo, and another successful conversion from Ross Dugan allowed Aberdeen Wanderers Warriors to end the first half with a 28-0 lead over Dyce RFC.

The second half opened with an impressive try from Ross Dugan, and from converting his own try he increased the score to 35-0. This was followed by a lack of discipline on the Warriors’ side, as Dyce were awarded a penalty and managed to gain three points for themselves in the 48th minute. Greg Gauntlet made an attempt to score in the 55th minute, however a high tackle from Dyce meant the Warriors were awarded a penalty try. This was followed by a second try from Ross Dugan, although Dyce managed to pierce the Warriors’ defence and gain another five points for themselves. The last score of the game was from Sammy Alkhalaf, who had the easiest of finishes receiving an offload from man of the match John McKay after a 20m run.

After the fantastic effort from the boys today, they managed to come away with a well-deserved 52-8 win. This brilliant score really shows off the effort that they’ve put in at training, and the rest of the club has high hopes for Aberdeen Wanderers Warriors in the future.
