On a warm morning at Groats Road (we don't say that often.) Aberdeen Wanderers U15s hosted Aberdeen Grammar in the first game of their pre-season schedule. The opening exchanges were tight, with both teams exchanging tries, before Wanderers benefitted from our ability to bring on a couple of subs with fresh legs. Through the middle of the game and toward the end, Wanderers pulled away to run out comfortable winners with a 49-24 scoreline. In the end, it was a comfortable win against a side that has proven tough to beat for a number of years. Some notable mentions in the game were a double for Finn in the first 20, a hat-trick for Struan in the 2nd 20, and additional tries from Noah, Kier, Finlay and with his first for the team, Cameron Scott. Cameron receiving the biggest cheer of the day from the touchline and receiving our man of the match too. Aiden and Ryan added some extras, but maybe some more kicking practice to maximise on the opportunity for extra points is in order :)

We can't let the match report end without mentioning a magnificent intercept from William. How sprinted 40 meters, only to be stopped short just short of the line. However, brilliant ball presentation and support meant we recycled and retained possession to keep up the pressure on the Grammar defence.

Some of our lads stayed on to support the U16s in their tussle with Grammar too. One pop at the local rivals clearly not enough for them.

All in all a great morning out in the sun and playing competitive rugby again. A great start and lots to build on as we continue our pre-season at home to Ellon next week.
