2 x P6-P7 Combined teams entered

Aberdeen Wanderers traveled to Banff on Sunday 29th, where despite the previous days deluge causing road closures and bridge collapses, the Banff RFC pitches were in good condition for some fast, running rugby.
Wanderers traveled with a combined P6/P7 squad of 19 and had entered 2 x teams for the day.
Due to a mix-up on the organizers behalf only 1 x Wanderers P6/P7 team had been entered into the festival, however as new team Fraserburgh arrived short of players, they combined with Banff and one of the Aberdeen Wanderers teams then played and fulfilled Fraserburgh's fixtures.
Wanderers "A" played against Nairn, Kinloss Eagles, Kinloss & Banff, whilst Wanderers "Fraserburgh" played against Garioch B, Banff, Huntly B & Crusaders (Highland).
With an equal mix of P6 & P7 players in both teams Wanderers played some excellent rugby.
From a coaches standpoint it was great to see the players "staying connected" as we have recently been working on in training, and as a result the opposition found it very hard to breech the Green and Blue defensive wall and some courageous tackling led to lots of turnovers and break away tries for Wanderers.
Special mention goes to the P6 players who more than held their own amongst the older boys.
It was a good fun festival with no scores being kept, and in the spirit of mini rugby and in agreement with opposition coaches the matches were sometimes extended to 9 or 10-a-side to ensure as many kids as possible got a game, rather than sitting on the side lines. Was great to see the Wanderers welcome a player from Banff into the squad for a match v his teammates where he put on a great performance!
There was quite a bit of downtime between matches, but the friendly camaraderie throughout the whole Wanderers squad was clearly evident with the guys cheering each other on when not playing themselves.
Nest Saturday (05th) we have training as usual, followed by the "Glack Attack" in the afternoon for those who are brave enough to take on the challenge.
Next festival outing is at Ellon on the Sunday 03rd Nov.
