Impressive Wands performance gets the win v strong combined Deeside / Garioch squad.

Combined Deeside / Garioch brought a very large squad off 28 players.
Agreement between Deeside/Garioch and Wands coaches to play 4 x quarters of +/- 15 mins to allow as many players on both squads to get as much game time as possible.
Also agreed to play 14-a-side, again to allow maximum gametime for everyone.

01st Quarter:
Wands started strong, James caught a clearance kick then ran and scored, Cam converted. Craig then scored with cam converting, then Josh reacted quickly diving over from short distance to score under the posts, and Cam converted.
Deeside / Garioch scored 2 x tries, but mised 1 x conversion.
Score Wanderers 12 : 7 Deeside / Garioch

02nd Quarter
Sam scored and fin converted. Sam then intercepted and scored his second try, cam converted. Craig then scored again with Cam converting. Cam scored and Fin converted. Wands then benefitted from another interception by Cam to run in his second try, also slotting the conversion. Sam scored again to get his hat trick in this quarter, with Cam converting.
Wands scored 6 x converted tries in this quarter, with Deeside / Garioch scoring just the 1 x converted try.
Score Wanderers 36 : 11 Deeside / Garioch

3rd Quarter
Deeside / Garioch fought back in this quarter scoring 2 x good converted tries, whilst Wanderers just ran in the 1 x try courtesy of Craig powering his way over after some good team interplay to secure his hat trick with Kier succesfully kicking the conversion.
Score Wanderers 40 : 19 Deeside / Garioch

4th Quarter
Wanderers having less subs to call on were now visibily tiring after playing an extended match. However they continued to dig deep and some strong running from Craig saw him touch down for his forth try of the game, conversion was missed. A planned move was then executed with a cross field kick to the corner from Campbell for Aiden to race after, the ball bunced back and forth off a few different pairs of boots before Aiden succefully manage to touch down in the corner. James stepped up to take the challenging kick from the corner and struck the ball beautifully, however it unfortunately bounced off the near post to miss.
Despite some excellent play from Deeside / Garioch in this quarter they were unable to score anymore points.
Final Score Wanderers 46 : 19 Deeside / Garioch

A great team effort from all Wanderers players, a definite improvement in defence line speed put more pressure on the opposition and there was some great support play when players made a break and quick arrival at the breakdown.
Wanderers scrum also continued to be very succesfull.
Also very encouraging to see excellent performance from some our newest players; Ruben, Alistair, Clement & Craig, who despite not having had much training time with the sqaud put in some strong runs, tackling and rucks and passed well to play an integral part in the win.

Overall a great match played in good spirits by both sides, some excellent skills on show from both teams and we will look forward to the return match v Deeside/ Garioch away, later in the season.
