The 1st XV won a physical and hard fought match which went down to the wire against previous conquerors Moray in the first game back after the Christmas period.

The game was played out under very wet and cold conditions at Westdyke. Moray took an early lead through 2 penalties before Ed Vickers found the posts with his boot twice. A very even but scrappy first half ended 9 points to 6 in Moray's favour.

After the restart Wanderers began to dominate and if it wasn't for the conditions should have scored a couple of tries. Moray scored again to take it to 12-6 before Nick Hazlett crossed the line from short range after sustained pressure (his first try for the club). Ed Vickers converted for Wands to take the lead for the first time in the match with 10 minutes to go.

There was still time for some late drama with Moray awarded a penalty to take the game however their kicker missed from long range. The final score was 13-12 with Wanderers the deserved winners.

Man of the Match was Nathan Alexander (Garioch) however Nick took the honours in the clubhouse.

The win guarantees a top 6 finish for the first team and pushed us up to 3rd place with one game left before the league splits.
