The U18 fixture away to Perthshire was a game of two halves! We did not start well, no structure, shape was poor and there was very little intensity. First half finished 31-0 to Perthshire.
Second half was a different story. The guys came out with an intensity and purpose that Perthshire found very difficult to live with. We had structure, shape and intensity, scoring four unanswered tries to bring the score to 31-28. Our squad was already depleted pre match, with only one sub who was used early in the 1st half.
Another player came off early in the 2nd half, which we played the majority of with 14, until a third injury meant we played the last 15 mins with only 13 players. Finally those numbers told and Perthshire scored to take it to 36-28. If we had more subs and had been more switched on in the 1st half this could have been a very different score line. Despite that, full credit to all the players for their 2nd half performance, it showed great character and resolve.
Final score today was 36-28 to Perthshire, but we look forward to welcoming them to Aberdeen for the return fixture in November.
