The U18's have defeated Perthshire for the second time this season.

The U18's have defeated Perthshire for the second time this season. The U18's travelled to Perth for what they knew would be a very tough match.
As the match started both sides went on the attack in what was to prove a very even match in which defences were working well. Things remained even until the 20 minute mark when after some pressure the Wands defence was on the back foot and Perth were able to cross for a try, but missed the conversion (5-0). Continuing to press Perthshire scored a penalty (8-0). Wands had their chances, spending time in the oppositions 22 until they were finally able to turn some pressure into points at about 30 minutes. After some good interplay and driving between forwards and backs a ruck was set a couple of metres out. The ball was quick and there was no stopping Craig Strachan from that distance. Finlay Munro made an excellent attempt at the conversion from out wide but it fell just short (8-5).
The second half continued much in the same way as the first half had gone, very even between both sides. The turning point in the match came about 15 minutes into the second half. After a period of Wands pressure and taking advantage of our dominant scrum Wands took a ball against the head on the left side of the pitch. The ball was taken infield twice and recycled quickly before coming back left to exploit the space that had been created and Cameron Moore was able to cross and score Wands second try (8-10). This time Finlay Munro was on target with the conversion (8-12). There was still about 20 minutes to go and Perthshire started to pile on the pressure as full time was approaching spending a fair amount of time in our 22. However, the Wands defence remained resolute, never letting their heads go down and putting in hit after hit preventing Perthshire crossing the line. As full time approached Wands were able to get out of their own 22 to relieve some of the pressure, and when time was up cleared the ball to touch. It was a very tight match but Wands deserved their hard fought win. Final score Perthshire 8 - 12 Wands.
Well done to all the players in the squad for their commitment from ko to the final whistle.
Thanks to Perthshire for hosting the match and hospitality after.
