Granite City score 14 tries
On a day when a total of 17 tries were scored Granite City came out 48-10 winners against Howe of Fife on a sunny morning at Groats Road.
Granite City started slowly with some early handling errors allowing Howe of Fife to have some early pressure, but a turnover at the breakdown gave Sebastian Aitken a chance to run the length of the field to score a try under the posts. This scoring continued with Granite City scoring another 6 first half tries to lead 21-3 at half time, apart from scoring tries there was plenty of good work being done by Granite City with some great attacking play and communication throughout the team.
In the second half Granite City seemed to lose some of its attacking shape but thankfully this didn’t stop our strong runners breaking through the defensive line on multiple occasions, another 8 tries were scored in this half with Sebastian Aitken scoring another length of the field try after picking the ball up over his try line.
There was some really good performances throughout the team and it was pleasing to see everyone contribute to the victory with the team having 7 different try scorers, a shout out to Finlay Wharry who was playing scrum half for the first time and had a strong game.
There was a stand out performance from Sebastian Aitken who was unstoppable today, lost count of how many defenders he beat and he ended up scoring 6 tries!
