Aberdeen Wanderers Summer 2018 pitch re-modeling Complete

Rotating the old pitch meant that we could the space more efficiently
- Shaun Liddle, Pitch Project Manager

Saturday 18th August saw the completion of the summer 2018 pitch work being completed at Groats Road with the installation of the new posts.

Our summer work has included reseeding and our ongoing battle with the drainage, however, we have also used the time to re-model the ground and get a second pitch installed.

"Rotating the old pitch meant that we could the space more efficiently" said Shaun Liddle who has been leading this piece of work at the club. "This has allowed us to get the space for a second pitch meaning we can host more games at Groats Road. This project has been a few years in the planning with a few different options available to us and I am glad were able to complete it this summer as per our timescale."

Guy Mullinor, club president, added "With running two adult teams, plus the Granite City Rugby and Grampian Girls youth teams, we needed to get more use out of the space we had, so I am really pleased to see this project get completed"

The new posts on both pitches were installed ready for the club to host the Sam Lobban Trophy , which was organised by Frank Selbie and Liam Cronin. Frank Selbie said "Hosting our event at Groats Road was important to us and to be able to play on the new pitch was fantastic"

Some action shots of the posts being installed can be see here. Thanks to Adam Cochran for taking these for us.
