Aberdeen Wanderers say goodbye to experienced winger Stephen Dixon

The club has found a great balance between a professional approach to training and matches while ensuring that the fun element is at the forefront

Aberdeen Wanderers said goodbye to one of its senior players at training tonight. Fullback/ winger Stephen Dixon who joined the squad last season has been a regular in the 1XV squad since moving up from Edinburgh.

Dixon, who is returning to his native Edinburgh to start a new job was carried aloft by his fellow players after his last training session with the club said “Aberdeen Wanderers has been a fantastic place to play rugby. The focus of all coaches and players is to welcome all players no matter their level of experience makes a massive difference to everyone enjoying training and playing in matches. The club has found a great balance between a professional approach to training and matches while ensuring that the fun element is at the forefront. Great club, great friends, great people”.

Head Coach Fraser Burr said “Stephen will be missed from the squad. He’s been a tremendous asset to the club, sharing his experience especially with the younger players in the squad. His strength was his positive outlook on rugby coupled with living, and extolling the values of rugby. We all wish him the very best for the future".
